Lucent Technologies Teams With Small Businesses to Support New Opportunities in Federal Marketplace

MURRAY HILL, N.J. - Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU) announced today that it is working with Synchronized
Networking Solutions (SNS) a Small Business Administration (SBA) 8(A) certified, native American owned
company that provides networking and IT expertise for service providers, government agencies and enterprise
businesses.
Lucent and Synchronized Networking Solutions will participate in the U.S. Small Business Administration’s
(SBA) Mentor-Protégé program that encourages private-sector relationships. This program aims to enhance
the capability of 8(a) participants to compete more successfully for federal government contracts.
Mentors, such as Lucent, may provide technical and management assistance, financial assistance, subcontract
support, and assistance in performing prime contracts through teaming arrangements with 8(a) firms.
"Our role as a mentor allows SNS to pursue a broader array of government contracts and leverage our
capabilities to serve a new segment of government customers," said Dan Bigbie, vice president, Government
